FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

With what kind of browsers is Web Menu Builder compatible?

The Web Menu Builder generates code that is highly tested to run in each browser, like IE (MS Internet Explorer) or NS (Netscape navigator).

What are system requirements for Web Menu Builder?

Web Menu Builder properly executes on the following operating systems:

Microsoft Windows 95
Microsoft Windows 98
Microsoft Windows NT 4 Service Pack 3
Microsoft Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows XP

Do we need plug-in or not?

No plug-ins needed, simply create the menu and integrate it into your Web Site.

How can I optimize my menu design to get the best possible menu building speed?

If you don't really need to change the appearance of a highlighted selection when clicking on it, then keep the appearance of the "OnMouseClick" state the same as the one in the "OnMouseOver" state. If you apply this to the whole menu, you may achieve an increase in speed of about 30%!

As a general rule, prefer to create more containers that contain less items (no more than 12 items) than create very few containers that contain plenty of items.

How do I use images?

Menus can contain images in the following ways:

As background in Main Menu/Containers
As background in Items
As part of the Titles' content
As part of the Items' content
As "Has Submenu" images, emphasizing the existence of a container linked to a parent item.
Images should be in gif, jpg, jpeg or png. Images can also be animated gifs.

The border is very close to the container's text. How can I change this?

The container's width is not fixed but rather gets calculated on-the-fly so that every item is displayed properly given the user's browser settings. Therefore, if you want some "breathing" space between the text and the border, you may just add a space (or more) at the beginning and the end of the widest item.

How can I make items look like buttons?

Use a different Border style/width in the different item states.

For example: Use "solid" in "Normal" item state and "inset" in "OnMouseOver" item state.

How can I highlight the selected item?

Set a different background/text color in the "OnMouseOver" item state than in the "Normal" item state, or set a different border style/width in the "OnMouseOver" item state than in the "Normal" item state.

How can I enable the user to relocate the menu?

Set the "Movable" menu global attribute to "checked".

How can I keep the menu visible while scrolling?

Set the "Stickable" menu global attribute to "checked".

How do I transfer a style to other items?

Select the item of your preferred style
Copy its style (Ctrl+Ins or Elements -> Copy Item Style)
Select the item to which the style should be transferred
Paste style (Shift+Ins or Elements -> Paste Item Style)
Repeat two above steps to "fill" more items with your preferred style.
